Description:

This popular guided hunt must be reserved well in advance in order to secure the dates of choice.  The species of turkey featured on this expedition is the beautiful WILD Florida subspecies Meleagris Gallopavo Osceola, which are native only to Southern and South Central Florida.  They are also considered to be the toughest North American game.  This hunt provides an experienced one-on-one guide who is knowledgeable about where the turkeys are roosting, loafing, feeding, and most of all strutting.  The only physical requirement for this hunt is walking.  However, guests should be in good physical condition for the hunt, and can do some pre-season conditioning by walking a few miles each day.  Guests are required to have a Florida Hunting License, Turkey Permit, and Archery or Muzzleloading Permit to participate in this expedition, which can be ordered from www.myfwc.com.  Guests will need to bring their own cooler for transporting their bird home if planning to use their own taxidermist.  Guests should also bring a small pair of binoculars, small flashlight, any calls, seat cushion, and any other personal preferred hunting equipment.  Regarding firearms, we suggest the use of only twelve guage or larger shotguns and using a three-inch or longer high brass magnum load of twos, fours or sixes or a duplex of two and four.  All shotguns pattern differently so please pattern your shotgun subsequent to your hunt with the loads that you will be using.  You should use camouflage tape on your firearm and not camouflage socks, as they tend to obstruct your sights.  You will also need a soft case for your gun for transporting it on the Guide vehicles.  Apparel for this hunt should include full camouflage clothing in a dark green pattern.  You might require waterproof hiking boots, preferably knee-high as its possible to get into some water.  Clothing should consist of long sleeve shirts and pants, facemask, gloves and a hat.  You may also require some form of camouflage rain gear.  Bringing a  personal camera or video recorder is also recommended for the excellent scenery, as over the last several seasons clients have witnessed Florida panthers during their hunts.
